Partick Thistle's push for the William Hill Championship summit was dealt a blow by a late 1-0 defeat away to leaders Stenhousemuir. Hamzad Kargbo's 76th-minute header proved the difference, moving the unbeaten Warriors three points clear and leaving the Jags in third place.
Kargbo rose highest to meet a cross and planted a firm header past goalkeeper Liam McFarlane. The goal was the only one of a tight contest at Ochilview Park, where the home side maintained their perfect start to the campaign.
"It's a tough one to take," said a club spokesperson after the match. "We competed well but couldn't find the finish we needed."
The result halts Partick's momentum after a strong opening to the season. They now face a gap to the top two, with Stenhousemuir pulling away and Ross County moving into second after a big win elsewhere.
